A Wick alternative for captcha verification, then holder roles in the same bot.
If your server uses Wick for captcha verification and you are looking at other options for that job, this page explains how the NXT captcha works and how to set it up as your entry gate. In NXT, the captcha and wallet verification are part of the same flow.
Scope the job first
Security bots often do much more than a captcha. If your server relies on other protections, keep them in place and decide only whether the entry gate moves.
The NXT captcha is an image with a six-character code, shown in an ephemeral message only the member can see. They type the code into a modal, get three attempts per challenge, and receive a role when they pass. You hide channels from @everyone and show them to that role, so the captcha becomes the door to the server.
After the captcha, the same member can click Verify to prove a wallet and receive holder roles, with optional welcome and rules steps along the way.
NXT captcha features
Image challenge
A distorted six-character code with easily confused characters removed.
Private to the member
Challenges are ephemeral. Nothing is posted in the channel.
Three attempts
Each challenge allows three attempts and expires after ten minutes.
Role on pass
Any role below NXT in your role list.
Your own panel
Edit the header, message, color, and button label with a live preview.
Solve log
Solves for the last day, week, and month, and the latest 50 members who passed.
Switching from Wick. One feature at a time.
Add NXT
Add NXT and move its role above the role it should give to members who pass.
Set up the gate
In Dashboard > Captcha, pick the gate channel and the pass role, and post the panel.
Switch the permissions
Point your channel permissions at the NXT pass role, then turn off the old captcha.
Members who already passed
Members who passed your old captcha keep whatever roles they have. If you reuse the same pass role in NXT, nobody has to solve a new captcha.
New members see the NXT panel in the gate channel from the moment it is posted.
