Polls

Polls let your community vote by reacting. Start one with /poll in Discord or from the dashboard, and NXT closes it on time and posts the results in place.

#Who can create polls

Open Dashboard > Polls. Under Who can create polls:

• Members with Manage Server can always create polls.
• Tick the roles that can also use /poll, for example your mods or a holder role.
• Or tick Everyone in the server can create polls.

Members without an allowed role who try /poll get a private message explaining that they cannot.

#Start a poll in Discord

/poll question:What should we build next? options:Raffle | Game night | AMA duration:2d multiple:false

• question: up to 256 characters.
• options: 2 to 20 choices separated by |, each up to 100 characters.
• duration (optional): like 30m, 12h or 3d, from 1 minute to 30 days. Defaults to 24 hours.
• multiple (optional): true lets members vote for several options. By default each member gets one vote.

#Start a poll from the dashboard

Under Start a poll, pick the channel, type the question and options, set the duration and voting style, then click Post poll.

#How voting works

Each option gets a letter, and NXT adds one reaction per option. Members vote by reacting with the letter.

• In one vote each polls, choosing another letter removes the member's previous vote.
• Reactions that are not an option are removed.
• When the poll ends, NXT replaces the options with the results: votes, percentages and a bar for each option, with the winner in bold. NXT's own reactions are not counted.

To end a poll early, click End now next to it in Dashboard > Polls.

#Permissions

In the poll channel, the NXT role needs View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Add Reactions, Read Message History and Manage Messages (to remove extra votes).

#Limits

• 20 options per poll, because Discord allows 20 different reactions per message
• Up to 30 days per poll
• Polls are included on every plan
